At Toddle-tots we use the Early Years Foundation Stages to observe record & plan the children’s learning as audited by Ofsted.

All Registered Childminders on the Early Years Register who care for children under the age of five have to observe, plan and assess activities for children based on their individual needs and development to ensure that they access the Early Years Foundation Stage.

As a Registered Childminder I aim to give children the best start by:

+ Providing a Safe and Stimulating environment.

+ Providing Challenging and appropriate play based on your child’s interests.

+ Attending courses and gaining new skills that will enhance the provision I offer.

+ Keeping accurate records about your child, and show evidence of their   learning progress.

My Long Term plan for all the under fives in my care is to provide each and every child with firm foundations through the six areas of development for them to take with them into their next setting:

The six areas of development are:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

All children in my care will be provided with experiences and support that will enable them to develop a positive sense of themselves; respect for others; social skills, and a positive attitude to learning. I will ensure that each and every child has the opportunity to learn about themselves, and what they can do.

Communication, Language and Literacy

I will help the children in communicating, speaking and listening; I will encourage them to have a love of books and literature, with the opportunity to practice their skills in a range of situations for a range of purposes.

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy

I will help the children develop an understanding of mathematical thinking through problem solving, reasoning and numeracy in a very broad context, where they can explore, discover, enjoy and talk about their developing understanding.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

I try to support children in developing the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to make sense of the world. I aim to introduce children to a range of equipment and tools, opportunities to experiment and to make personal discoveries and observations. As a childminder – the world is my classroom; we get to meet a variety of creatures, people, places, objects etc in their real environment.

Physical Development

I aim to encourage the children in my care to make healthy choices, to be active and interactive within the environment. I aim to give all children the opportunity to discover and practice their coordination; manipulation, control and movement skills through everyday play activities.

Creative Development

I aim to encourage the children to development their curiosity, exploration skills and play, providing opportunities for them to explore and share their thoughts, feelings and ideas through role play, art, music, movement, and design.
